Fat Cat

Posted on Jul 26, 2007

Last night, I played at the Fat Cat in west village for Joseph Lepore group.

This place used to have a wall separating music place and ping-pong tables or pool tables. They closed the place last year but theu reopened this year. The difference is they took out the wall. So musicians can see all the people playing table tennis inches away from the stage.

Ping-pong ball often came toward the piano while I was playing.(It was lucky that billiard ball naver came toward my head.)

I was wondering if musicians and audience can concentrate while they hear constant ping-pong noise.I was wondering if billiard people can focus while they hear constant conplexed harmony and rythm.

For the sake of surviving in the hot NY Jazz scene , you have to practice your instrument with TV and radio on loud.
